SKRS is a registered South African Non-Profit Organisation.
It is independent.
It does no not get an annual budget from any other institution, but its board members have to find extra funding.
To be scientifically productive, one needs more than money: Motivation, endurance and fascination.

National and international collaborators analyze samples and data collected at SKRS, publishing together with us in internationally high ranking journals. Often they contribute to the costs of obtaining the data / samples.

Volunteers

Volunteers come for 2 or more months and help us collecting field data. They cover all arising costs themselves but benefit from a ones in a lifetime experience at a remote, quiet and unique research station.
